The basic requirements with the ISM Code are that the flag state of the vessel verifies that the company and ship have good work practices covering the requirements of SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, Load Line and ILO-MLC. The necessity of the ISM Code is for these good work practices to be recorded and carried out by all competent personnel.

This course provides training for knowledge and understanding of the ISM elements as:

  • Safety management strategy – outlining the way the company will approach ISM
  • Manual integration – identifying how existing company manuals can be included in the Safety Management System
  • Manual production – identifying the critical areas that must be covered by process or procedure and the areas that provide value to the shipboard and office personnel
  • Document control – establishing a process that allows all required manuals, ship’s information, forms etc to be kept up-to-date and relevant

Certificate
To all who are qualified a certificate is issued certifying that a trainee has met the requirements laid down in ISM Code and the relevant interpretations developed by ISF/ICS
