Operational experience either confirms the validity and reliability of the ship and its systems, the propriety of the procedures followed and the competency and efficiency of those operating the ship or illustrates, through incidents and accidents arising , the existence of defects or deficiencies in need of correction. Consequently, the thorough investigation of incidents and accidents offers a prime means of enhancing the safety of life at sea and improving maritime and environmental safety in general.

After a satisfactory completion of the course the trainee is provided with the certificate of attendance of this course.
